Yoghurt based smoothies are very quick to make, ideal for breakfast, or a healthy snack during the day.

The method is very simple. Add some yoghurt, top up with milk – which helps ensure the drink is not too thick – and then add the fruit.

Frozen strawberries and raspberries are ideal, whether home grown or shop bought. Cherries and blueberries also make a delicious combination. Adding a teaspoon of honey is optional, but can help bring out the flavour of all the ingredients.

Pour all the ingredients in a blender and in a few moments the drink is a gorgeous colour with a creamy consistency.

For variety, vegetables can make a refreshing alternative to fruit based smoothies. The key to success is keeping the proportions of fruit, milk, and yoghurt the same to achieve a smooth consistency – not too runny or too thick.
