April Planting Guide

  • Probably the busiest germination month of the year
  • Finish sowing potatoes, onions, and shallots
  • A great month to sow parsnip seeds, with the ground still wet to aid germination (also good for beets like chard, beetroot, spinach)
  • Last chance for many slow growing heat loving crops like tomatoes, chillies, aubergine
  • Sow squash, cucumber, and courgette plants now indoors (to be ready to go outside after the last frosts)
  • An excellent time to sow, or buy, herbs for the kitchen garden
