May Harvesting Guide

  • Whilst many crops become available in May, the majority of these are toward the end of the month
  • The availability of vegetables like broad beans, onions, and peas depends upon choosing varieties that overwinter (planted in the autumn) to mature when the warm spring weather arrives
  • Fast growing crops like pak choi, spring onion, and radish - planted in March - can start to be harvested
  • Early varieties of gooseberries herald the start of the soft fruit season, joined later by raspberries and strawberries
