October Harvesting Guide
- This month is a transition period, with many non-hardy varieties of vegetables coming to an end - and it is the time to plant hardy overwintering vegetables for the following year
 - It is peak season for picking, and storing, pears and apples
 - Crops that die back and can be left in the ground, like parsnips, salsify, and Jerusalem artichokes, should be marked to enable them to be found easily in winter
